Extract text from PDF

I need an idea to extract text from PDF file. I tried some software to extract text from PDF documents. But the problem is that I got failed in that attempt. Does anyone know how to extract text from PDF? Or does anyone have any suggestions of an easier way to accomplish this? Please throw some light on me? – Eric
